

Berry College is seeking a skilled and dedicated Carpenter to join our Physical Plant team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our beautiful campus facilities. The Carpenter will be responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and replacing various building systems and fixtures, supporting campus events, and ensuring a secure and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:

Install, repair, maintain, and replace building systems to ensure the safety and security of campus facilities.

Select appropriate materials and techniques to maintain and repair doors, door hardware, windows, floors, ceilings, partitions, office equipment, furniture, and classroom structures.

Plan, lay out, assemble, and install materials, equipment, and fixtures as required by project scope.

Respond to departmental maintenance and repair requests, including securing office equipment, installing shelves, and rearranging furniture.

Coordinate and assist with campus special event setups.

Oversee and supervise student workers, including scheduling and task delegation.
Requirements:

Proficiency in safely using electric and hand tools (e.g., saws, drills, sanders).

Ability to rekey doors, duplicate keys, and repair locks.

Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.

Capable of constructing cabinets, shelves, walls, closets, desks, and other fixtures.

Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively manage student workers and coordinate tasks.
