

Marathon Petroleum’s El Paso Refinery is seeking an experienced Journeyman Maintenance Electrician to support the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of refinery electrical systems. This critical role ensures the uninterrupted operation of essential infrastructure, contributing directly to the refinery’s strategic business objectives. Primary Function:
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems throughout the refinery. Ensure compliance with industry safety standards and regulatory requirements while supporting continuous and efficient refinery operations.
Tools and Equipment Used:

Electrical testing equipment (multimeters, insulation testers, etc.)

Power tools and hand tools

Electrical one-line drawings and schematics

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Lockout/Tagout devices and safety equipment
Materials Handled:

Electrical wiring and cabling for AC/DC systems

Circuit breakers, transformers, and electrical contractors

Control panels and electrical distribution systems
-
Medium and high-voltage electrical equipment
Key Responsibilities:
-
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain refinery electrical systems and equipment.

Use blueprints, schematics, and electrical one-line drawings to complete work accurately.

Install, commission, and maintain electrical components and systems.
-
Execute preventative maintenance activities as part of the Mechanical Integrity Program.

Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and adhere to industrial safety standards.
-
Perform safe racking in/out of electrical contractors and circuit breakers.
-
Use appropriate electrical PPE and safety protocols in all field activities.
-
Support positive teamwork and demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with others.

Maintain accurate safety and development training records.

Operate SAP and Microsoft Office applications (preferred).
Required Qualifications:
-
High School Diploma or GED.
-
Completion of an electrical craft certified apprenticeship OR two years of verifiable journeyman-level experience OR an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electrical Technology.

Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician State-Issued License.

Valid driver’s license.
-
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and wear required PPE.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of electrical experience in a refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environment.

Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office.
-
Medium and/or high-voltage electrical experience.
Compensation & Benefits:

Starting Pay: $32.53 per hour, up to $52.47 per hour based on experience.
