At Zachry, we value innovation and teamwork. As a Concrete Paving Operator, you will play a vital role in our heavy highway projects, operating specialized equipment to lay and finish concrete pavements. You’ll work closely with our team to ensure the concrete is placed correctly and meets the highest quality standards. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate concrete paving machines such as slip-form pavers or curb and gutter machines to place and finish concrete per project specifications.

Monitor concrete consistency, thickness, alignment, and surface smoothness to meet engineering standards.

Control the material taken into the paver and manage the depths of material distribution.

Perform routine maintenance on paving equipment, ensuring it remains in optimal working condition.

Adhere to OSHA regulations and company policies regarding safe working procedures and environments.

Complete daily pre- and post-shift inspections, documenting equipment conditions.

Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or concrete placement issues to avoid project delays and maintain quality.

Work flexible hours, including day, night, and weekend shifts, depending on project needs.
Required Skills and Experience:
-
At least 2 years of experience as a concrete paver operator.

Proficient in operating concrete paving equipment, with knowledge of machine controls, settings, and adjustments.

Familiarity with concrete materials, mix designs, and placement techniques to ensure the pavement meets desired characteristics and durability.

Effective communication skills to collaborate with the team and relay important information regarding equipment and project progress.

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
