How to measure head circumference for welding cap? Hold the end of the cloth tape measure to the middle of your forehead. If you are using a standard metallic tape measure, use a piece of string. Wrap the tape or string around your head until you return to the starting point. It should be above your ears, resting at the point you would like your hat to rest.
Make sure the tape measure or string is snug around your head, but not too tight. It should be comfortable and just fitted enough to stay put. Write down your measurement in inches. If you are using string, measure the string against your tape measure. Use the size chart above to determine which size will be your best fit. If you are between sizes, choose the larger size.
How to measure wrist size for a bracelet: Measuring your wrist for a bracelets is pretty straightforward. You can do it on your own, or enlist the help of a friend or loved one.
- Make sure you measure the wrist you plan to wear your bracelet on.
- Using a soft measuring tape, like one you’d use for sewing, is ideal.
- Wrap the measuring tape snugly around the widest part of your wrist.
- Note the number on the measuring tape, and add a half inch to determine the right bracelet size.
How to measure wrist size without a measuring tape: Not everyone has a soft or flexible measuring tape lying around at home. If that’s the case for you, you still have options. You simply need something you can wrap around the widest part of your wrist and a ruler.
Some materials you can use to measure your wrist size without measuring tape include: Yarn or string, strip of paper, shoelace, any ribbon. You can even use a dental floss.
- Wrap the string, ribbon or floss around your wrist so it’s snug but not too tight.
- Make sure the string or whatever you’re using lies flat and isn’t twisted.
- Pinch the spot where the string crisscrosses the starting point. You can also cut the string or floss at that point.
- Hold the material in place using your thumb and index finger.
- Place your ruler on a flat surface and align the measuring string starting at the zero (0) inch mark. Add a half inch to determine the right bracelet size.
Chest: Measure the total circumference of your chest at its fullest point, just under your armpit.
- Waist: Place your hands on your hips and bend to the side. The indent on your side as you bend is your natural waist. Measure the total circumference at this point.
- Waist Jeans: Measure your circumference at a point about two inches below the belly button.
- Hip: Stand with your feet 6” apart. Measure the total circumference at the fullest point of your hip.
- Sleeve Length: With your elbow slightly bent, starting at your middle neck bone, measure to the point of your shoulder and down to your wrist bone. Or take a shirt that fits well and take the same measurement.
- Inseam: Stand with your feet 6” apart. Measure from the top of the leg/crotch to below the ankle. Or take a pair of pants that fit well and take the same measurement.
Body measuring tips:
- Generally, take measurements in an unflexed state and before your workout.
- Keep the feet together, relax your muscles and stand up straight.
- Consistency is essential - measure under the same conditions and using the same measuring equipment each time.
- Pull the tape tight, keeping pressure against (but not pinching) the skin and ensure the tape is kept level and not at an angle.
- To make sure the tape is positioned correctly, ideally, get someone else to take the measurements for you. If this isn’t possible take the measurements yourself in front of a mirror for better visibility.
- Measure both sides of the body to accurately track progress and symmetry.
- Always measure on bare skin and not over clothing.
